The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday reaffirmed that Peru is fully open to attracting investments which guarantee respect for the environment.

The Head of State delivered a message to businesspeople from the region during a forum organized by the United States Chamber of Commerce.

On this occasion, he invited entrepreneurs to visit the South American country in order to explore investment opportunities.

"As I pointed out in my recent presentation at the United Nations (General Assembly), and I ratify it today, Peru is fully open to attracting investments that guarantee respect for the environment, improve the quality and level of employment, as well as promote technology transfer, thus providing concrete benefits to all citizens," he expressed.

"I want to extend this invitation to all of you; this is the right moment to consolidate the strong ties of friendship and cooperation with the United States; we have a new opportunity," he pointed out.

Furthermore, the President stressed that "we are at a propitious moment to consolidate the strong ties of friendship and cooperation with the United States" based on a convergent political will, instruments such as the free trade agreement, and the presence of around one million Peruvians who have chosen the U.S. as their second home.

In this sense, Mr. Castillo indicated that his administration will continue promoting dialogue between the Executive Branch and the private sector, which will allow the identification of trade and investment opportunities in both nations.

"We will work to continue fostering this dialogue with the private sector so as to identify trade and investment opportunities in both countries, (as well as) to consolidate the economic recovery, the fight against the pandemic, the protection of the environment, and equal opportunities for all," he added.

Mr. Castillo also specified that the projections by various institutions show that Peru will register the highest growth in the region this year thanks to the rapid recovery of our economy and the favorable environment that prevails to do business and invest in different sectors.
