Peruvians claim bronze at International Standards Olympiad

17:21 | Yongin (South Korea), Aug. 10.

A delegation of three Peruvian students attending Lambayeque region's High-Performance School (COAR) won bronze medals at the 13th International Standards Olympiad in Yongin.

The project submitted by the pupils consisted of a smart farm with a standardized irrigation system that determines the quantity of water needed by every type of plant, thus allowing the protection of this natural resource.

Thus, the Inca delegation —composed of Nancy Paico, Yampier Chilcon, and Carlos Quevedo— lifted the name of the country high.

The Peruvians gained recognition in the Middle School category for ages 13 to 15. They competed against a total of 20 teams (16 Korean and 4 foreign ones).

The National Quality Institute (Inacal) and the Production Ministry (Produce) promote a quality culture aimed at motivating students to find solutions to everyday problems by applying Peruvian technical standards.

The goal is to teach minors to apply quality criteria in their daily lives and use them in the future.

The Inacal initiative counted on the support of the Education Ministry.
