Peruvian quinoa dazzles Chinese entrepreneurs

00:00 | Beijing (China), Sep. 4.

Peru's Beijing-based Trade Office (OCEX) presented non-processed quinoa to potential Chinese buyers, after the recent signing of a protocol that enables the entry of such Andean grain into the Asian Giant, Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) has reported.

The event featured Peruvian dignitaries, important entrepreneurs, the media, and renowned Chinese gourmet Huang Ke.

The latter highlighted the cooperation work with OCEX in order to include quinoa in the Chinese diet.

"PromPeru is promoting the worldwide campaign 'Superfoods Peru,' which prioritizes the Chinese market through strategic alliances with local trade and investment partners. We thus tapped into new sales channels and managed to distribute our star export products," said Mario Ocharan, exports promotion director at PromPeru.

Chaufa de Quinua, Solterito de Quinua, Quinoto, Causa con Quinua, and Pudin de Quinua were some of Peru's national dishes available at this promotional event, where attendees enjoyed the flavor and high nutritional value of this Andean grain.

Also participating was Huang Zhaohui, the operator of Casa Peru (Peru House) —the first commercial space with Peruvian products, such as superfoods, coffee, among others, which promotes the South American nation as a tourist destination in the Chinese capital.

Huang was named 'Friend of Peru' —an award given to those who promote Peruvian identity— last year.

This activity was part of a tireless promotional campaign for Peruvian products in China.

Additionally, the Inca nation will be the guest country at 2019 Asia Fruit Logistica fair —to be held in Hong Kong on September 4-6.
