Permanent Representative of the Republic of Peru to International Organizations Based In Rome, Ambassador Eduardo Martinetti, presented credential letters to World Food Program (WFP) Executive-Director David Beasley, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry has affirmed.

During the meeting, the Inca nation's diplomat expressed the Peruvian Government's willingness to continuing to strengthen relations with WFP and thanked the work undertaken by the organization in the South American country.

The current collaboration of WFP is within the Peru Country Strategic Plan (2018-2022). Its objectives are in line with the national priorities concerning food and nutrition safety, disaster preparedness and response, as well as social protection.

Likewise, the Executive-Director highlighted the excellent ties between the WFP and Peru, and underlined the importance of continuing raising the collaboration level.

Furthermore, Beasley indicated he is interested in visiting the Inca country, as it is an example of the relationship between an upper-middle-income nation and the WFP.

In this sense, Ambassador Martinetti offered all the support to materialize the Executive-Director's visit, so he can personally appreciate the positive results of the partnership among the Peruvian Government, WFP, and the private sector, aimed at fighting anemia

He went on to add WFP is a key ally of Peru in order to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the 2030 Agenda, especially the second goal "Zero Hunger," as well as to close the most complex gaps that greatly affect the most vulnerable populations.

The ceremony took place in Rome on June 13.
