on Tuesday called for redoubled efforts to combat and defeat organized crime, drug trafficking, and terrorist remnants.
"There is a firm commitment and determination from the Government and all its authorities at every level to confront the problem. What has not been done before will be done now," Jeri said at the Pichari military base in La Convencion province, Cusco.
"We must redouble our efforts, and the authorities in charge will have to do more than we are currently doing, even to the point of exhaustion," he added.
The Head of State reaffirmed that the government's main efforts are focused on combating delinquency and organized crime, as well as drug trafficking and terrorist remnants.
"And like any war still to be won, our commitment must be double, triple, or whatever it takes to win these wars," he underlined.
The top official indicated that Peruvians have faced various types of internal conflicts in recent years and are still battling them through the effort and commitment of the Armed Forces and the National Police.
"Today, after so much time, it is time to start closing those cycles and winning these wars that are still pending. (These are) internal wars that we must fight. On one side, we face drug trafficking; on the other, we face terrorist remnants and organized crime that seek to take away our peace," he asserted.
The President also highlighted the military's role in the fight against these enemies and in defeating them.
"Problems cannot be eternal; they must end at some point, as long as there is the will of the authorities—and the authorities have that will," he noted.
