The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday affirmed that the unity of all Peruvians is imperative and necessary in the face of the Independence Bicentennial to achieve a dignified life and ensure that all citizens rely on the benefits of safety, peace, and progress all of us long for.

"Looking at the first years of our third century of independent life it is imperative and absolutely necessary to stand united, all of us, under a common flag," Mr. Sagasti pointed out.

"We all have to work united and recognize ourselves as brothers and sisters embarked on a single task towards the future, to make a reality concrete: this great potential that the country has in order to offer a dignified life and be able to ensure that all citizens can have (access to) the benefits of safety, peace, and progress that we all yearn for," he added.

The Head of State pointed out that in Peru a war is being waged with multiple enemies, a war against intolerance, corruption, fake news, selfishness, and meanness by a few Peruvians "who do not show their love for the homeland, unlike all of you (Air Force members) who have shown it," he noted.

"Thanks to the Air Force for saving lives and bringing hope," he stressed

"We make a pause to commemorate the road to glory and immortality of Jose Abelardo Quiñones and the deep meaning of his heroic act, which is an example for all Peruvians, a beautiful gesture of love for the country," he concluded.
