Peru's Machu Picchu Brand to be promoted in U.S.

15:08 | Cusco (Cusco region), May. 3.

An important agreement will help promote the Machu Picchu Brand in the United States to explore cultural and tourist attractions as well as services available at this sacred sanctuary in the Andean region of Cusco.

The deal will be signed between Machu Picchu Municipality and its counterpart from Medley, located in Miami-Dade, Florida. This is a twinning agreement between the two cities.

To that end, Machu Picchu Mayor Darwin Baca and Medley Mayor Roberto Martell, as well as other authorities, met in Inca territory.

The Machu Picchu Brand project is aimed at fostering the citadel's tangible and intangible cultural heritage around the world and, above all, its food service offered at nearby restaurants and hotels.

According to Councilor Omar Cabrera, Machu Picchu Town will provide standard quality services for domestic and foreign visitors

In addition, it will pursue the population's sustainable and economic development, and the relationship with the world is important in light of this.

Machu Picchu will also foster the provision of efficient and innovative services —but with great responsibility— at restaurants and hotels, as well as constant training.

In addition to this, more and more tourists are expected to arrive —in a decentralized manner— through alternative access routes, whose creation has been passed at the last Machu Picchu council meeting.

During his stay in Cusco, Martell explored the famed Inca ruins and was awarded the key to the city by Mayor Darwin Baca. Similarly, Baca received the key to Medley from hands of his U.S. counterpart.
