After suffering a strain last Saturday, Peruvian athlete Ines Melchor expressed her desire to compete in the women’s 10,000m marathon at the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.

"I want to recover. I would like to run and meet my goals. We are analyzing the training sessions. If I'm still fine by then, I believe I will be ready for this Thursday," the Peruvian told Latina TV station.

Melchor's working routine is based on trots and a therapy to treat her muscle strain.

"I am very excited. The competition was very important for me. At the beginning I was a little disappointed, but I've already overcome it," the runner added.

Although athletes frequently suffer injuries, they have to learn how to "overcome" them, the Peruvian sprinter said.

The Toronto 2015 Pan American Games represent an important landmark for her. That is the reason why Melchor had been training for over 3 months. However, if she is not able to consolidate the participation, her next goal would be competing in Rio 2016 Olympics.

Finally, she thanked the support shown by her followers. The women's 10,000m event is scheduled for Thursday at 7.40 P.M. (local time).
