Peru's FA Min participates in Prosur Presidential Summit

Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua participated in the III Presidential Summit of the Forum for the Progress of South America (Prosur) in the Colombian city of Cartagena on Thursday.

The diplomat attended the event representing the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo.

The forum's agenda included the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, in addition to economic recovery.

At the event, Prosur expressed its solidarity with the Peruvian people and Government due to one of the worst ecological and environmental disasters generated by the Repsol oil spill.

Previously, the Peruvian minister met with his Brazilian counterpart Carlos França, with whom he ratified the excellent level of the bilateral relationship and finalized the details for the coming meeting between Presidents Pedro Castillo and Jair Bolsonaro.

Prosur

Prosur is a mechanism for coordination, cooperation, and regional integration, created from the Presidential Declaration on Renewal and Strengthening of the Integration of South America.

This agreement was signed by Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, and Peru in the Chilean capital, Santiago, in March 2019.
