Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister Allan Wagner and
Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Peru Kate Harrisson have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to renew the UK-Peru Infrastructure Task Force created in 2018.
The signing took place during the opening session of the Fourth UK-Peru Infrastructure Task Force held on Thursday.
During the Fourth Task Force deliberations, more than 30 public and private institutions from both countries shared the best practices and experiences in infrastructure projects with the aim of improving the implementation of large-scale works, putting emphasis on health and education sectors.
An important result of this partnership with the UK is the
National Infrastructure Plan for Competitiveness (PNIC) —published in July 2019— which prioritizes the implementation of 52 high social and economic impact projects requiring an investment of approximately S/100 billion (about US$27 billion) in four sectors: transport and communications; agriculture; sanitation; and energy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs promotes and participates actively in schemes like the one established with the United Kingdom, which make it possible to promote investment opportunities in the South American country in order to boost the reactivation of the national economy.
