Peru: Traditional exports up 21.4% in March 2022

09:10 | Lima, May. 20.

Peru's traditional exports amounted to US$4.269 billion in March this year, up 21.4% compared to the same month in 2021, mainly explained by higher product prices, the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) has reported.

Thus, foreign sales of traditional products reached a value of US$12.330 billion in the first quarter of 2022 —a 22.3% rise from the same period in 2021, mainly reflecting the increase in prices of metals, natural gas, as well as crude oil and its derivatives.

According to the Central Bank, exports in all groups of goods stood out in March.

The BCR highlighted the growth in sales of natural gas (710.7%), driven by higher prices, and of agricultural products (415.8%).

During the first quarter of 2022, both sectors experienced annual growth rates of 318.4% and 371.6%, respectively.
