Peru to participate at Pacific Alliance's LAB4+ Summit in U.S.

11:30 | San Francisco (U.S.), Jul. 16.

Peru will participate, as co-organizer, at the Pacific Alliance's LAB4+ Summit —the most important business and innovation summit featuring key players from Latin America— from September 3 to 4 in San Francisco, California (U.S.).

"This meeting seeks to internationalize and showcase innovation ecosystems of Peru, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico, in the city where Silicon Valley —the cradle of technological innovation— is located," Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Edgar Vasquez said.

"It provides an excellent showcase and connection opportunity for key players such as exporters, startups, investors, large firms, incubators, among others," he added.

This is the first time the LAB4+ Summit is held in San Francisco, which will allow large entrepreneurs, startups, incubators, and participants in general, to venture into new businesses and/or alliances, gain access to investments, as well as strengthen their networking with potential allies and investors.

Four areas are given priority at LAB4+ Summit: nutrition and health; education and future of work; orange economy; and exponential technologies.

Some 5,000 participants are expected at this year's event —organized by ProChile, ProColombia, the Mexican Secretariat of Economy, and PromPeru.

Pacific Alliance

The Pacific Alliance —created in 2011— is an integration initiative focused on reducing trade barriers, as well as fostering the free circulation of goods, services, capitals, and people across its territories.

The bloc relies on observer countries and represents the eighth-largest economy in the world.

Nowadays, it has become the axis of a new way of doing business in the continent.

On an annual basis, the Pacific Alliance rotates the pro-tempore presidency among its members.

Peru handed over the presidency to Chile at the recent summit held in Lima.
