The Peruvian government salutes the comprehensive agreement on the Iranian nuclear programme reached in Vienna by the United States, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, China (E3+3) and Iran, the Peruvian Foreign Affairs stated on Wednesday.

The agreement will verifiably prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon and ensure that country’s nuclear program will be exclusively peaceful going forward.

“Peru congratulates the efforts undertaken and the political commitment shown by the parties, which have allowed to reach an agreement through dialogue and understanding,” the Ministry highlighted in a press release.

Likewise, it indicated the country hopes the agreement to be fully implemented thanks to the participation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to the Ministry the “historic agreement” contributes to strengthening the non-proliferation regime and the peaceful use of nuclear energy. Likewise, it constitutes a relevant contribution to peace and international security.
