19:04 | Lima, Sep. 23.

The Fourth Office of the Third Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor's Office of Callao region on Thursday afternoon stipulated the incineration of terrorist ringleader Abimael Guzman's dead body.

"The decision was notified to the health authority, the Ministry of Justice-Human Rights, and the Ministry of Interior to initiate coordination aimed at collecting the remains of the terrorist ringleader from the Central Morgue of Callao and complying with the incineration and the final destination of his remains within a maximum period of 24 hours, as established by law," the Public Ministry announced on Twitter.

The statement emphasizes that the resolution —issued by the Third Provincial Corporate Criminal Prosecutor's Office of Callao— is based on the terms of Law No. 31352, which indicates the need to avoid putting national security and internal order at risk in the circumstances described in the regulation.

Likewise, it is based on the defense of public and social interests that fall within the Public Ministry's jurisdiction, in its defense of legality and constitutionality, and considering that its decisions have an impact on society.

"It should be noted that the Prosecutor's Office in charge of the investigations linked to the identification of Guzman Reinoso's (dead) body on Wednesday, September 22, received the latest results of the assessments performed," it added.

It also mentioned that the investigations surrounding the reasons for terrorist's death will continue their course with the corresponding procedures in accordance with current regulations.
