Peru promotes Lima Commitment implementation at OAS

Peru's Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) Ana Rosa Valdivieso promoted the implementation of the Lima Commitment "Democratic Governance against Corruption."



Furthermore, Valdivieso pointed out the importance of the 57 mandates' implementation process aimed at achieving said goals. 

In the presence of MESICIC experts, the representative explained Peru's proposal linked to the Mechanism for Follow-up and the Implementation of the Lima Commitment "Democratic Governance against Corruption."

The Heads of State and Government of the Americas have acknowledged the important role of the Mechanism for Follow-Up on the Implementation of the Inter-American Convention against Corruption (MESICIC) in the fight against corruption across the hemisphere, the diplomat emphasized. 

She went on to add this is reflected on Lima Commitment's specific mandates.

They are aimed at promoting good practices, seeking synergies with other international and regional anti-corruption organizations, as well as assessing anti-corruption policies, among others.

Remarks were made during the 31st Meeting of the MESICIC held in Washington D.C. on September 10-13.
