The Presidency of the Republic on Wednesday highlighted the role of medical personnel, law enforcement agencies, and firefighters in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, as World Health Day is commemorated today.

"On World Health Day, we value the work of: medical personnel, National Police of Peru, Armed Forces, and firefighters who are on the frontline. Along with the elderly, they are part of the immunization process against COVID-19," it expressed via Twitter.

Similarly, the President's Office called on Peruvians to continue taking care of themselves and complying with biosafety measures.

On 2021's World Health Day, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a call for unity towards a new campaign aimed at building a fairer and healthier planet.

The WHO affirmed that COVID-19 has proven that some people can live healthier lives and have better access to health services than others due to the conditions in which they are born, grow, live, work, and grow old.

According to the institution, this is not only unfair but also avoidable. Thus, the WHO asked leaders to guarantee that mankind can rely on living and working conditions which favor good health.

At the same time, it urged them to monitor health inequalities and ensure that all citizens can access high-quality health services whenever and wherever people need them.
