11:20 | Lima, Oct. 17.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday underlined the publication of the urgency decree aimed at boosting the economy, which allocated over S/1 billion (around US$296 million) to diverse institutions of the central and regional governments, with the aim of financing investments in social sectors, such as education, health, housing, and agriculture.

The document —published in El Peruano official gazette— is within the framework of the measures aimed at achieving the 3% growth goal of the 2020-2023 Multiannual Macroeconomic Framework (MMM)

The decree allocated S/361.3 million (about US$107 million) to the maintenance of over 52,000 schools, 17 health establishments, and 7 Residential Care Centers for children and teenagers.

Likewise, it assigned S/315 million (around US$93 million) to Mi Vivienda (My Housing) Bond, S/200 million in order to finance investments, and about S/152.4 million (around US$45 million) was granted to MYPEru purchase program.

Furthermore, S/58.6 million (about US$17 million) was assigned to strategic programs and plans of diverse sectors, while S/16 million (around US$4 million) was allocated to the Defense Ministry.

In this sense, the Head of State stressed the strong positive impact of this decree, especially for regional governments.

He also clarified the task of the next Congress members —to be elected by the citizens on January 26, 2020— will be to assess the legal documents issued by the Executive Branch.
