Peru's Head of State Francisco Sagasti on Monday welcomed the proclamation of Pedro Castillo as President-elect of the Republic after the announcement of results by the National Election Board (JNE).
Via Twitter, he called on Peruvian nationals to be optimistic about the future of the country.
Additionally, the President said that he hopes that —nine days before the Bicentennial (of Peru's Independence)— this will be the beginning of a new stage of reconciliation, consensus, and unity.
"I welcome the proclamation of Pedro Castillo as President-elect after the announcement of results by the JNE," he stated.
