Peru: President participates in first meeting for Puno's development

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday participated in the first meeting for the development of Puno region, in this southern area of Peru.

The activity took place at the Main Square of Juliaca.

More than 1,000 residents of this region, leaders of social organizations, regional authorities, mayors, and lawmakers representing said jurisdiction attended the event.

Among the participating social organizations were Frente de Defensa Unificado de la Cuenca del Río Coata y de Afectados por Metales Pesados (Unified Defense Front of Coata River Basin and of People Affected by Heavy Metals), Proyecto Integral de Agua y Alcantarillado de las Urbanizaciones Unión Juliaca y San Ramon (the Comprehensive Water and Sewage Project of Union Juliaca and San Raman Urbanizations), and representatives from Llallimayo Basin.

According to the official agenda, the meeting began with words by San Román Province Mayor David Sucacahua and Puno Region Governor German Alejo.

Afterwards, the leaders of social organizations took the floor as they made their main needs known.

In turn, the Head of State proposed measures aimed at the development of the population.

To protect small farmers and ranchers from low temperatures, the Government is expected to deliver 400 foliar kits; 90 forage conservation kits; 5,700 cultivated pasture kits; 5,129 veterinary kits; 490 crop protectors and 716 sheds —through Agro Rural, the executing unit of the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation.
