The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday urged that in Latin America there be respect for the political orientations and domestic processes of each country.

During the meeting of Heads of State and Government of South America held in Brasilia, the president also called for reaching more consensus and for the proposed initiatives not to privilege ideologies.

"We need to respect the political guidelines and domestic processes of the different member countries," she said in a video through which she participated in this meeting remotely from the Peruvian capital, Lima.

During her recorded speech, the top official made it clear that her absence from the presidential meeting is due to the regulations in force in Peru.

Despite this, she raised a joint work agenda on behalf of her administration.

"First of all, there must be pragmatism in the establishment of a common agenda. We need the adopted agreements not to be declarative, but operational and measurable," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

Reaching those points of consensus implies greater efficiency in decision-making mechanisms, the top official affirmed.

"It is essential to envisage a flexible and effective management, without large structures or bureaucratic schemes," she said.

Concrete integration

As for the regional integration process, proposed at the presidential meeting, Mrs. Boluarte indicated that it must take place in the long term, guaranteeing its sustainability over time.

"We must start a slow but safe path, gradually moving towards new stages as we reach our goals," she expressed.

Said summit was convened by Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, with the aim of promoting regional integration.
