Peru President attends recognition ceremony for Lima 2019 medalists

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Wednesday participated in the ceremony aimed at recognizing the sportspeople who won medals at the Lima 2019 Pan American and Parapan American Games.

This event served to highlight the efforts undertaken by the medalists.

As is known, the South American country achieved a record-breaking result at the Pan American Games after winning 39 medals in total: gold (11), silver (7), and bronze (21).

On the other hand, Peruvian Para athletes won 15 medals at the mega-sports event. They included gold (5), silver (3), and bronze (7). These results marked a historic record by surpassing the country's record of 11 medals earned in Mexico 1999.

The ceremony took place at Lima Municipality and was also attended by Mayor Jorge Muñoz.
