Peru President affirms Govt's commitment to enhancing job opportunities for youth

11:40 | Lima, Feb. 21.

The Government is firmly committed to generating opportunities for Peruvian youth and takes effective measures to improve the quality of their education as well as their access to healthcare services, Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra said Friday.

During the issuance ceremony of the Single Labor Certificate to the youth, held at Callao's Naval Base, the Head of State underlined that the current policy is to have a short, medium and long-term horizon in favor of young people.

"There is a series of actions that we have taken in favor of the youth, who make up 25% of the population. One of every four Peruvians are aged between 15 and 29 years old. It is our duty to generate opportunities for them," he commented.

Furthermore, he referred to other indicatives like "Productive Youth," which not only provides them with training but also generates undertakings, as well as different efforts aimed at improving the quality of education, promotion of culture, and support for sports.

Thus, the exercise of their right to get decent jobs is guaranteed. In addition, this secures their effective participation in the country's decision-making process as well as in the fight against discrimination and violence across the country.

Mr. Vizcarra addressed Voluntary Military Service members to tell them that the best thing the Armed Forces has is the men and women who serve in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM), the border region, the high Andean areas, and the rainforest.

"The State is obliged to reward those who devoted years of service to the defense of national interests. Many young people opt for a career in the Armed Forces after their voluntary military service. They will always be welcomed at armed institutions to keep contributing to the development and enhancement of their homeland," he emphasized.
