16:55 | Chimbote (Ancash region), May. 22.

Peruvian National Police (PNP) agents have burned 1,440 marijuana plants seized in Conchucos district, located in Pallasca province of Ancash region.

The drug had been planted in a 400-square-meter agricultural plot in a small village called Wuabo.

Pallasca police agents were conducting a routine patrol when they found the plants.

The discovery was reported to Prosecutor Idelza Orendo, who reached the area to carry out the corresponding formalities.

Neither the landowners nor people who could give information on their whereabouts were found nearby, although the police carried out a thorough search of the area.

The prosecutor ordered the incineration of the plants and decided to open an investigation file.

Likewise, the officers found other 440 marijuana plants hanging on fruit trees. The Prosecutor's Office requested samples of these plants to be tested.
