Between January and November 2022, Pisco shipments abroad reached nearly US$9.282 million, leading to a 44% growth over the amount registered in the same period of 2021, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) has reported.
The flagship alcoholic beverage arrived mainly in the United States (US$3.890 million), accounting for 42% of total shipments and an increase of 15%.
Spain was placed second in the ranking ($979,499), accounting for 11% of the total and a rise of 37%.
The Netherlands completed the top ten (US$868,669), representing 9% and an expansion of 74%.
Pisco shipments to Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Colombia, Germany, Canada, and Ecuador also stood out in this sense.
National Pisco Sour Day
During a ceremony held on the occasion of the upcoming National Pisco Sour Day (celebrated on the first Saturday of every February), ADEX Pisco Committee Chairwoman Carmen Robatty expressed the importance of working together to overcome the current crisis.
"We are in a complex situation. We know about the needs that exist in the country; nonetheless, violence will not bring us anything good," she remarked.
The officer indicated that producers have the firm intention of continuing to work. Similarly, she expressed their commitment to the country's recovery.
Activities
In this sense, the Adex Pisco Committee performs a series of actions such as the commemoration of the Pisco Sour Day, celebrated on the first Saturday of February every year.
On April 22, 2004, Ministerial Resolution No. 161-2004-Produce established the first Saturday of February every year as the National Pisco Sour Day in Peru.
