Peru: Pharmaceutical exports reached US$49.4 million in Jan-Nov 2018

00:00 | Lima, Jan. 23.

Peru's pharmaceutical exports totaled US$49.4 million between January and November 2018, thus increasing 4.8% over the same period the previous year, Peruvian Exporters Association (Adex) has informed.

This outcome was underpinned by the changes made to the exportable supply.

Adex Chairman Juan Varilias indicated this diversification generated greater added value in the sector. However, he pointed it is necessary to develop more markets and widen the range of offered products.

In this sense, Varilias stated the support from the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) will be essential to achieve significant growth through a dynamic public-private work.

Likewise, Adex Data Trade Business Intelligence System reported Peruvian pharmaceutics are shipped in four segments, which reached 71 destinations in the 11-month period last year

These spheres were medicines for human consumption (US$23.7 million), veterinary products (US$16.7 million), medical materials (US$8.2 million), and biological products (US$264,877).
