Peru: Over 25 million to vote in today's general elections

25,287,954 Peruvian citizens —in the country and abroad— will vote in these general elections, according to the electoral roll crafted by the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status (Reniec) and approved by the National Elections Board (JNE).

According to the document approved via Resolution No. 0303-2020-JNE, 24,290,921 citizens are entitled to vote in Peruvian territory, whereas 997,033 will be able to do so at consulates abroad.

12,745,409 are women and they represent 50.4% of the electoral population; while 12,542,545 are men (49.59%). Within this framework, 6,928,324 people are under 30 years of age.

The Peruvian regions that host the largest number of voters are Lima (8,322,644); La Libertad (1,429,469); Piura (1,396,448); Arequipa (1,145,268); Cajamarca (1,103,247); and Cusco (1,025,280).

Meanwhile, the areas with the fewest balloters are Madre de Dios (116,513); Moquegua (148,367); and Tumbes (167,771).

In the case of Metropolitan Lima, the approved registry specifies that 7,558,581 people are authorized to vote.
