Peruvian Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua and his New Zealand counterpart
Nanaia Mahuta have discussed APEC 2021 work, Peru's candidature for the APEC presidency in 2024, and topics of common interest on the bilateral agenda.
Additionally, both ministers agreed that CPTPP will strengthen Peru's relationship with the Asia-Pacific region and will be especially helpful to increase bilateral trade with New Zealand.
Maurtua congratulated his New Zealand counterpart for the excellent organization under the 2021 APEC presidency and thanked New Zealand for supporting Peru's candidature for the presidency of APEC in 2024.
Moreover, the ministers agreed to develop a social agenda for the benefit of both nations, mainly of their vulnerable populations.
Likewise, they will continue to strengthen cooperation in topics of common interests in order to overcome the different challenges posed by COVID-19.
Finally, the Peruvian diplomat invited Minister Mahuta to pay an official visit to Peru in order to dive deep into topics on the bilateral agenda and explore new areas of cooperation.
