Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Daniel Maurate held a meeting with Foreign Affairs Ministry officials in charge of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum themes to disclose details about the strategic actions developed by his administration, with the aim of fostering formal employment, training youth for their insertion into the labor market, and fighting informality, among others.

This decision is part of the Peruvian State policy based on strengthening our relations with Asia-Pacific region economies.

Before this working group, the Cabinet member stated that APEC is highly important for his sector.

Similarly, Minister Maurate explained that his administration places emphasis on human capital, with the purpose of enhancing its efficiency, which will result in the productivity of companies and have a positive impact on Peru's production.

"We know that only by increasing the country's productivity can we generate more employment, as well as better living and working conditions," he added.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry team was led by Ambassador Carlos Chavez-Taffur Schmidt, the Peruvian State official responsible for organizing the aforementioned summit.

He explained the details of what the holding of this activity in our country will be like. Said summit will be attended by leaders from the world's major economies, such as the United States, China, and Russia.

In turn, Ambassador Carlos Vasquez detailed the actions and progress within the framework of APEC 2024 and the topics that are responsibility of the Labor and Employment Promotion Ministry.

In this sense, the diplomat indicated that ministry officials will travel to Arequipa from May 4 to 9 to lead the international meeting in areas linked to this sector.

Vasquez emphasized that APEC Peru 2024 priorities focus on trade and investment for inclusive and interconnected growth; innovation and digitalization to foster the transition to formal and global economy; and sustainable growth for resilient development.

From them —he said— roadmaps emerge for the transition of formal and global economy, the implementation of green hydrogen across the Asia-Pacific region, as well as principles to prevent and reduce food loss and waste in the bloc, among others.
