Peru House opens in Gangneung ahead of 2018 Olympic Winter Games

19:42 | Gangneung (South Korea), Feb. 8.

The first ever Peru House opened its doors Thursday in Gangneung, one of South Korea's host cities for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympic Games.

Led by Peru's Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) and Trade Office in Seoul (OCEX Seoul), the initiative is intended to spread Peruvian culture across the world.

Attendees will be able to see Peru's most amazing landscapes at a photo exhibition featuring pictures taken by South Korean bloggers who have already visited the country's tourist attractions.

Likewise, visitors will be allowed to feel the fineness of alpaca fiber textiles, as well as smell and taste delicious superfoods as they enjoy Peruvian music or explore a variety of tour packages to different parts of the country.

"Our job is to generate interest in Peru. This time we do it through Peru House —a new Country Brand (Marca Peru) platform to provide visitors with a 360-degree experience of what our country is like," said PromPeru Communications and Country Image Director Isabella Falco.

Peru House is located just 10 minutes' walk from Gangneung train station, which makes it a must-visit place for thousands of citizens and tourists seeking to attend the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Winter Games

The opening event saw the presence of Peruvian Ambassador to South Korea Daul Matute and Gangneung Mayor Choi Myung-hee.
