Peru: Health, Defense ministers test positive for COVID-19

The Ministers of Health, Hernando Cevallos, and Defense, Juan Carrasco, have tested positive for COVID-19 after undergoing the corresponding coronavirus tests, their sectors have reported.

In a statement on Twitter, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) said that Cevallos' health state is stable and that he is experiencing mild symptoms.

In addition, Minsa stated that the health sector's head is currently in self-isolation and keeps working remotely.

For its part, the Ministry of Defense (Mindef) reported that the health condition of Juan Carrasco —the head of Mindef—remains stable.

According to the government department, Carrasco has gone into isolation following medical advice and complying with the health protocols implemented in the country.
