Peru: Gov't to pay cremation and repatriation cost of deceased climber Hidalgo

14:56 | Kathmandu (Nepal), May. 13.

Peru's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will shoulder the cost of cremation and repatriation of Richard Hidalgo's ashes, the Peruvian climber who was found dead last week on Mount Makalu.

Via Twitter, it announced that both the Consular Section of the Peruvian Embassy in India and the Peruvian Consulate in Nepal are handling the case.

According to the Ministry, these actions will be carried out in accordance with the family's wishes.

Hidalgo was found dead in his tent on Mount Makalu —the world's fifth-highest mountain— the one he hoped to surmount.

Members of the Seven Summits Treks expedition —of which he was a member, too— found him dead when they looked for him in his tent.
