The Government of Peru approved the creation of the preventive care strategy Yanapay60+ in order to provide differentiated and priority care for senior citizens residing at Elderly Care Centers (CEAPAMs).
According to
Supreme Decree No. 001-2021-MIMP, published in the official gazette
El Peruano, one of the goals is to articulate social-health actions with diverse public entities in favor of this social group. Yanapay is a Quechua word meaning "help."
The participation of other entities, volunteers, and civil society organizations can be coordinated as well.
Activities
The Yanapay60+ strategy includes visits coordinated with CEAPAM participating entities, in order to verify the implementation of biosafety measures for the prevention of COVID-19 infection.
It also includes vaccination against pneumococcus, influenza, diphtheria, COVID-19, among others, as well as the application of coronavirus diagnostic tests to the target population, according to the provisions of the health authority.
The affiliation with the
Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS), in the case of elderly people residing at CEAPAMs —provided that they are not affiliated with other insurance companies— is another component that has just been added to the program.
Additionally, Yanapay60+ must provide coverage to insured persons by providing prevention, promotion, recovery, and social welfare benefits to elderly people —residing at CEAPAMs— affiliated with EsSalud, among other measures.
