Peru: Get to know FREPAP's proposals to Congress

11:01 | Lima, Jan. 29.

According to Peruvian National Office of Electoral Processes' (ONPE) latest official figures, the Agricultural People's Front of Peru (FREPAP) will be the second-largest minority in the new Congress for the 2020-2021 period.

There are seven main proposals raised by its candidates in their presentations, both in the campaign and debates organized by the National Election Board (JNE).

The first one is the elimination of parliamentary immunity, one of the issues that was debated during the previous Congress and that was also part of the 2018 referendum.

Likewise, it proposes the "humanization of work," thus reducing the working week from 48 to 44 hours, without lowering the employees' salary.

Similarly, FREPAP suggests the recall of legislators, as well as complementary risk insurance for public transportation.

Another proposal lays down the free disenrollment from Pension Fund Administrators (AFP) to switch to the Public Pension System (ONP) "and vice-versa."

Furthermore, FREPAP proposes the credit promotion and taxation for Micro-Small (MSEs) enterprises law, as well as the strengthening of the National System for Labor Inspection.

Finally, it suggests changes in prison privileges and fight against citizen insecurity.
