Peru's Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva has said that citizens must be at the heart of economic policies and —for this to happen— taxpayers need an efficient, timely, and friendly tax system.
On the other hand, the government official stressed the need to update tax policies to modern standards, since "we live in a time characterized by a way of doing business that changes a lot, almost dramatically, and on an unprecedented scale."
According to the minister, this poses a challenge when making new decisions over public policies with regard to
tax issues.
Her statements were made at the opening of the
9th LAC Forum on Fiscal Policy, organized by the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) as well as the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
