The Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) on Thursday affirmed that vaccines against COVID-19 are safe, effective, and give hope to continue helping more people, as members of the General Corps of Voluntary Firefighters of Peru do.

For this reason, the PCM called on citizens to be part of the "Pongo el Hombro" (I Lend a Shoulder) campaign when it is their turn to get vaccinated.

A video broadcast on social networks features remarks by Josue Donoso, a San Martin de Porres 65th Fire Company member with 26 years of service.

Donoso tells viewers that the COVID-19 pandemic affected them harshly, adding there have been cases of infected firefighters on duty. However, they now continue serving due to the interest in supporting their communities.

"I would recommend that you indeed get the vaccine; it will protect us. I fully trust that, and that is what every firefighter hopes, that this vaccine will help us continue saving lives," Donoso emphasized.

"I am a volunteer firefighter and I also lend the shoulder," he concluded.
