The first debate of candidates running for Congress, led by the
National Election Board (JNE), took place Sunday in Lima.
The two-hour discussion brought together representatives from Juntos Por el Peru, Vamos Peru, Partido Morado, Avanza Pais, Podemos Peru, FREPAP, and Accion Popular parties.
They presented their proposals during the segments: "Political and Electoral Reforms by 2021," "Strengthening of the Judicial System and Fight against Corruption by 2021," as well as "Closing of Gaps by 2021."
Attending the debate were Luis Velarde, Luis Roel and Francis Gutierrez of Accion Popular; Miguel Yaqui, Beatriz Mejia, and Alberto Calvo of Avanza Pais; as well as Maria Cespedes, Isaias Pineda, and Maria Retamozo of FREPAP.
Cinthia Baquerizo, Wilfer Carlos, and Roberto Sanchez represented Juntos por el Peru, while Zenaida Solis, Alberto de Belaunde, and Daniel Emiliano spoke on behalf of Partido Morado.
Finally, the debate was attended by Jackeline Garcia, Maria Cabrera, and Orestes Sanchez on behalf of Podemos Peru, as well as by Doyle Acosta, Carlos Torres, and Jenny Beingolea in the case of Vamos Peru.
The second debate will take place on Thursday, January 16, at 8:00 PM. The event will gather representatives from Frente Amplio, Peru Patria Segura, Contigo, Democracia Directa, Peru Libre, Fuerza Popular, and Partido Popular Cristiano.
The last exchange of ideas will be held on Sunday, January 19, at 7:00 PM. The participating parties include Alianza Por el Progreso, Renacimiento Unido Nacional, Somos Peru, Peru Nacion, Union Por el Peru, APRA, and Solidaridad Nacional.
