The governments of Peru and Colombia have agreed to share embassy offices in Vietnam and Ghana to help each other in terms of logistics.
Peru's Deputy Minister of Foreign Relations Fernando Rojas said Thursday that the decision follows a bilateral agreement on political understanding and mutual cooperation, which was reached on the sidelines of the 7th Pacific Alliance Summit held in Cali in May 2013.
The diplomat explained that although the two countries will share the same buildings, they will work independently and will manage their own affairs for the benefit of their expatriates.
In March this year, the Peruvian government decided to open an embassy in Hanoi, capital of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, one of the fastest-growing economies in Southeast Asia.
The Pacific Alliance is a trading bloc consisting of Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico. The group, formally established in 2011 in Lima, is aimed at pushing for free trade and economic integration, with "a clear orientation toward Asia."
