The Andean city of Cajamarca has embarked on the traditional festivity of Corpus Christi, which will run through June 15 this year, in an event that constitutes one of the most important religious manifestations to renew people's faith.

On Tuesday, Cajamarca Province Mayor Joaquin Ramirez presented the festivity's official program, which includes artistic, religious, cultural, and trade activities.

Corpus Christi is included in the religious calendar and is one of the most transcendent manifestations.

"Let's take this opportunity to renew our faith in our Lord, to be all together, that is, family, institutions, and neighborhood organizations, as well as to work committed to Cajamarca," he said.

According to the provincial mayor, Cajamarca's customs, such as religious observances, have been lost throughout the time.

"The (Catholic) Church has put all its effort, so we can bring back this important celebration for the community with support, coordination, and will," he remarked.

"Keep the faith. We must take that step of working together and make the great north of Peru to concentrate on Cajamarca for Corpus Christi, by offering a list of religious, cultural, and artistic activities," Ramirez added.

Among the aforementioned activities is a Peruvian Paso horse contest. It should be noted that Cajamarca is one of the places where this tradition is celebrated.

"We are committed to working on this religious festivity, together with the Catholic Church," the provincial authority pointed out.

Moreover, he reported that the trade fair and Peruvian Paso horse contest will take place at the Fongal Cajamarca facilities.

Thus, the Cajamarca Province Mayor invited the population to take part in the family-oriented activities.
