Investments in Peru's tourism sector
remain dynamic, since 22 new hotel projects —whose investment exceeds US$789.1 million— will be under construction starting the second half of this year until 2021.
According to Lima Chamber of Commerce
's (CCL) Institute of Economics and Business Development (IEDEP), more than 86% of these hotels will be built in Lima.
"The available hotel investment
is a response to the recent increase in the tourist flow to the country, which requires higher capacity and a variety of accommodation options," IEDEP Executive Director Cesar Peñaranda expressed.
These four- and five-star hotels will be located in five cities, but most of the projects (17) will be developed in Lima, which entails a total investment of US$682.6 million.
Three major projects will be carried out in the capital city: Hotel Hilton Museo de Osma (Barranco district), with an investment of US$142 million and operations starting in 2021; Hotel Vista Mar (US$75 million), whose opening is scheduled for 2019; and Hilton Garden Inn Lima Miraflores (US$34 million), whose doors are to open in 2020.
In provinces, hotel initiatives include projects by Sheraton (Cusco), Inkaterra (Piura), Hampton Inn by Hilton (Arequipa and Tarapoto), and a multiregional project by InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG)
