Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism and Chair of the Promperu Board of Directors Magali Silva announced the 23rd edition of the country’s most important event for tourism promotion Peru Travel Mart (PTM-2016) is being held in Lima from May 13-15.

“Once again, the event will attract new buyers (67% in total) from 31 countries, including large delegations from Brazil (24 participants), Mexico (16 participants), Argentina (15 participants) and Colombia (10 participants).

“This is the result of joint work between our sector and private actors, and promotional activities carried out by Promperu and Peru Trade Offices Abroad (OCEX) in order to diversify markets,” she stated.

The Lima Convention Center will host such an important fair, given its increasing attractiveness as venue for international events.

“We have developed a large program around the business conference, including seminars on the country’s cultural diversity, familiarization trips, guided visits to museums, thematic lunches, parades, and cultural events,” she underlined.

It should be noted the National Tourism Chamber (Canatur) estimates that PTM 2016 negotiations will pump US$115 million in new economic activity into the country.

The recently elected Chairman of Canatur, Freddy Gamarra, expressed confidence in the outcomes of the event.

This year’s edition, he continued, will bring together 154 tour operators, out of which 52 were directly managed by Promperu and OCEXs.
