New Zealand experts train agricultural extensionists in Peru

18:50 | Cajamarca (Cajamarca region), Oct. 16.

Over 20 agricultural extension leaders from livestock provinces in Cajamarca region attended a training workshop on better dairy production practices led by New Zealand specialists.

Organized by Peruvian Agriculture and Irrigation Ministry's (Minagri) Agro Rural Program, the activity was aimed at strengthening producers' technical skills.

The workshop —held at Porcon Farm— is part of the New Zealand Peru Dairy Support Project (PANZSLP) promoted by the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation (APCI)

"The extension leaders will pass on the acquired knowledge to other producers within the same work fields," Cajamarca Agro Rural Regional Director Luis Zegarra pointed out.

The PANZSLP was launched by the governments of Peru and New Zealand in order to invigorate the dairy sector in Cajamarca's provinces.

The project also focuses on assisting Peruvians farmers with New Zealand technologies to improve milk production, handling and processing practices, and more effective research and extension.
