The Lima Metro Line 2 megaproject will boost the construction sector, lead to job creation and position Peru on the same level joining the most modern and competitive countries, Peru’s President Ollanta Humala announced.

After inspecting the said construction works on Monday, he indicated this project is part of the "Lima Metro System which will be one of the world's most modern" projects.

"Peru is focused on becoming a more competitive country. The Annual Meetings of the Board of Governors WBG/IMF were recently held and we have one of Latin America's most modern Convention Centers. Now, we are working on boosting an efficient transportation system," the President underlined.

Likewise, he highlighted the efforts made by the transport and communications sector to move the project forward.

"All these works are aimed at enhancing the public transport quality and Lima Metro Line 2 will create more jobs, an increased demand for construction materials and boost dynamism in the service chains," the Head of State informed.

Mr. Humala emphasized the Executive Branch aims at establishing an efficient mass transport system for Lima's most popular sectors.

The international community's recognition to Peru is thanks to the development of projects, despite internal and external difficulties, the President reminded.

"We continue working on the projects launched by the government. We have the resources; therefore, the works won't stop; we keep on reducing poverty," he stressed.
