The Lima 2019 Organizing Committee and the National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) on Thursday unveiled the medals that will be handed out to athletes and Para athletes who reach the podium at the Pan American and Parapan American Games.

The SNMPE mining sector has manufactured nearly 5,000 gold, silver, and bronze medals for athletes and Para athletes from all over the continent. They were made of Peruvian metals extracted from domestic mines.

The Pan American Games decorations feature sculpted designs of the Twelve-Angled Stone in Cusco, the Kuelap Fortress in Chachapoyas, and the Candelabra geoglyph in Paracas.
