Get to know Peru's rural destinations for one-day trips

00:00 | Lima, Feb. 7

Peru is a great country that offers sightseers the chance to visit various areas. On this occasion, Andina news agency suggests tourists to arrive in some destinations where community-based rural tourism can be enjoyed while in the Inca country.

As is known, Peru's Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur) —through its Community-based Rural Tourism Strategy—prepared a list of destinations to visit in one day.

Humacchuco (Ancash region)

Humacchuco is located two hours away from Huaraz within the Huascaran National Park.

Visitors will be welcomed with traditional dances before getting first-hand knowledge of agricultural activities.

Later, they will join the local community to eat a delicious Pachamanca —an Andean ritual dish that dates back to ancient times— for lunch.

If there is enough time, visitors can spend the night with locals so that they can explore one of the popular roads leading to the park.

Pomac Forest (Lambayeque region)

Enjoy a memorable horseback ride around the nearly 6,000-hectare carob forest and get immersed in a magical experience as you explore Sican culture pyramids, one of the largest legacies in Peru's history.

Porcon Farm (Cajamarca region)

This destination is situated in Cajamarca City and includes guided tours through its zoo, where species from Peru's three regions can be found.

After a lunch featuring local products, tourists can visit the cowsheds.

Lucumo Hills (Lima region)

This place belongs to Lima province and is located near the capital city. The Asociacion Circuito Ecoturistico Lomas de Lucumo offers a full-day tour not to be missed.

Adventure sports like rappel are available for groups of more than 10 people. They can also visit cattle-raising areas.

Palestina Caves (San Martin region)

This beautiful destination is placed less than an hour from Rioja City.

Palestina community women offer a guided tour of Morfo Azul Butterfly House, which contains seven species of Lepidoptera.
