Germany confirms friendly match with Peru

10:14 | Lima, Apr. 20.

A friendly match between Peru and Germany will be played on September 9 in Sinsheim (Germany), the European team confirmed on Friday via Twitter.

Said clash will take place at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim's Rhein-Neckar-Arena.

This will be the Incas' first friendly following the 2018 World Cup Russia.

It must be noted both sides have met —only once— at the 1970 FIFA World Cup Mexico.

On that occasion, the Germans defeated the red-white with a score of 3-1.

The three German goals were made by Gerd Müller, whereas Teofilo Cubillas managed to score one for the South Americans.

The opponent

Germany is the reigning World Champion after beating Argentina 1-0 at the 2014 World Cup Brazil final.

This squad has won four World Cups (1954, 1974, 1990, and 2014), as well as the FIFA Confederations Cup Russia 2017.

Likewise, this European team tops the current FIFA World Ranking, whereas the Peruvian counterpart ranks eleventh.

Germany was placed in Group F —along with Mexico, Sweden, and South Korea— in the FIFA World Cup final draw.
