Delegations from countries participating in the
Lima 2019 Pan American Games —scheduled to be held on July 26-August 11— highlighted the progress made on different aspects regarding the organization of this sporting event, such as safety, transport, accommodation, and infrastructure.
"They've worked hard, against the clock, and have made significant progress in infrastructure. A world-class infrastructure legacy will be left for Peruvian athletes in Lima," he said in statements to Andina news agency.
His remarks were made at the Chef de Mission Seminar held at a hotel in Lima's San Isidro district, where heads of delegations from 41 participating countries gathered to discuss the final details on the arrival of over 6,700 athletes during the second half of July.
"There is great interaction between the
Pan American Games' organizing committee and the heads of delegation, which are the links and bonds between athletes and the organizing committee. Therefore, this is one of the most important meetings," he underlined.
Conditions for the good development of the Games will be very exceptional because they coincide with the school break and the refurbishment of fast tracks for the transport of athletes from hotels to sporting venues.
Pan American Village
The
Pan American Village is a comfortable place for athletes. Featuring two bathrooms and a living room, each apartment is intended to accommodate six sportspeople.
For his part, the Lima 2019 Pan American Games Organizing Committee (COPAL) President Carlos Neuhaus said safety, transport, accommodation, and infrastructure-related issues will be resolved before the most important sports event ever held in Peru kicks off.
