COP25: Peru presents progress in energy policy

12:52 | Madrid (Spain), Dec. 12.

Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) presented —during the 25th UN Climate Change Conference (COP25)— the progress made by Peru in fulfilling the commitments made to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions.

The actions were presented by officials of Minem's General Directorate of Energy Efficiency (DGEE) in various panels at COP25 held in the Spanish capital city of Madrid.

On Tuesday, DGEE Manager Javier Campos took part in the panel "Ambition for action: multi-level cooperation to update Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) in Peru."

During his participation, he commented on the initiatives implemented by the sector in order to improve energy policy and reduce polluting emissions.

Campos reported on the progress of mitigation projects concerning renewable energy, sustainable transport, and energy efficiency labeling, which the Government covered in detail at the recent "Sun World 2019" summit held last November in Lima.

Likewise, he set out Executive Branch regulatory proposals to promote the entry of electric vehicles and their supply infrastructure, the promotion of energy audits in coordination with the National Institute of Quality, the growth of wind and solar generation in the power market, as well as the Energy School for Women (eMujer), which takes clean technology trainings into account.
