The economy would have grown by nearly 4% over the first quarter of the current year, driven by primary sectors and greater dynamism of private consumption, Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCR) Chairman Julio Velarde projected on Wednesday.

In this sense, the highest expansion would have been registered in February, with a nearly 5% rate.

"Primary sectors' performance has contributed to the result. However, we've noticed consumer sales have somehow recovered, according to surveys conducted by BCR," he highlighted.

It must be noted the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) will present February's official figures on April 15th, 2016.
