In a communiqué, the Peruvian government agency reported the following:

During the First Technical Working Group on Border Security convened by the Amazonas Department (Colombia) Governorship and held in the city of Leticia, the Territorial Sovereignty Director at the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Isla Santa Rosa would not belong to Peru and that it would be irregularly occupied by our country.

Regarding this matter, on this date, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Colombian Charge d'Affaires to deliver a Note of Protest through which the Government of Peru reaffirmed its sovereignty and jurisdiction rights over Isla Santa Rosa.

Similarly, it expressed protest over the statements made by the aforementioned Colombian official.
