Peruvian diplomacy has successfully brought consensus back to the meetings held during Peru's hosting of the
, Senior Official for the forum, Renato Reyes affirmed on Monday.
"I am pleased, not only because of this achievement, but also because Peru managed to implement a diplomacy that has restored consensus within APEC, which is something we should be grateful for," he said in remarks to TVPeru.
The official expressed
his appreciation for the work carried out in organizing APEC, which was
made possible not only through the efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but also with the support of all relevant national sectors.
"I believe everyone rose to the occasion to address substantive thematic challenges, as Peru has brought many significant topics to APEC," he stated.
The diplomat added that "Peru introduced substantive topics that the member economies consider both innovative and unprecedented, such as the transition to a formal economy."
Furthermore, he
highlighted the organization of large-scale events, totaling 270 meetings, set to culminate these days with the start of APEC Leaders' Week.
"With the concluding meeting of the 21 Senior Officials of APEC, we will review the work done throughout the year and continue to focus on the four key deliverables that we hope the leaders will approve during this week," he explained.
Reyes further noted that the joint meeting of APEC Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Trade will begin on Thursday.
Subsequently, on Friday and Saturday, an informal dialogue involving APEC leaders and invited guests will take place, along with the Business Advisory Council meeting.
Lastly, on Saturday, the leaders will complete their participation and depart Peru.

Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, and Viet Nam.
Together, they account for 62% of world's GDP, 48% of global trade in goods and services, plus 38% of the planet's population.
